The two foot high protrusions from the rear of the car represented the paragon of '50s American design. Nothing was as openly excessive or expressive in all of production car design as the two fins on the 1959 Cadillac. It was the last year of the opulent Cadillac before the more restrained design style of the 60s took hold in the first year of that decade.
